Membership of the Society is open to solicitors who practise, or who have practised previously within one mile of the Bank of England. On 1st January 2007, the City of London Law Society formally separated from the City of London Solicitors' Company and for the first time, members can opt to join just the City of London Law Society. However, for the same fee you can also join the City of London Solicitors' Company as a Freeman, which entitles you to membership of the City of London Law Society. As a full member of the Company, you become a Freeman of the City of London Solicitors' Company and are encouraged to attend an Admission Ceremony. You can also apply to become a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Company.
Corporate membership of the Society is open to firms who wish to join for a fee which covers all solicitors practising at their City of London address. Currently corporate membership fees are based on £2,000 per firm plus £27 per head for every qualified solicitor within the City office. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Affiliate membership of the Society is open to those who are interested in participating in the Society's activities and who are not eligible for full membership. We welcome, for example, lawyers qualified outside England and Wales, the judiciary, barristers, Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives and legal academics. Affiliate members must normally work in the City of London, although solicitors and lawyers whose place of work is outside the City are also eligible to join as affiliate members if approved by the Committee.
Associate membership is open to those who are currently training as solicitors within the City. For further information and an application form please email: email@example.com, giving your name, your firm and your address or DX number.
